By the people for the people from the people. If Benjamin franklin in the 1700s could make so many people sit up and take notice by throwing
a stack of pamphlets expousing his political views –no taxation without representation, then imagine what we could do in this day and age, with all the technology at our disposal?? learning new things has never been easier.
Politicians are elected by the PEOPLE not the party, so why are they
giving their alleigence to the parties not the people who put them in
a position of power?
Crossing the floor to give your vote, according to what you believe is
right, is NOT a crime against the political party to which you
belong!!! The reason that you are there, is to make the right decision
for the people who elected you. No shady deal, under the table
trade-offs on laws, no pressure to conform to the expectations of your
party, two faced politics is NOT why you were elected. The power of a
thousand screaming teenagers is not to be underestimated. These young
people can influence those around them just as those of voting age
can. Even more so in many cases, as we still live at home – can you
even imagine having your son or daughter refuse to aquiece to any
request you make of them, until you vote in a way that makes our
voices heard??? Just because we're a few years short of adulthood does
not mean our intelligence is inferior, nor our opinions baseless and
juvinile. In every sense but law we are adults. Should we remain
voiceless when the power of decision is in our hands???? And how much
choice does the average voting adult have in the doings of our
country?? They place their vote for a local member, believing (rather
idealistically and naievely) that they will make the right choices
that are in their interest.
Who is looking over john howards shoulder, keeping the bastard
honest???? No-one. Who can tell me that they believe it is right for
one party to hold all the power??? Certainly not any aware teenager,
that's for damn sure. Why has no-one done anything about it??? Why are
all these laws continuing to be passed? Where is the public outcry at
this injustice???? Could it be that the futility of it all has
finally gotten to the populace??? Or maybe it is lying dormant…in the
youth of the country.
Neither major party are the kind of human being (if they could be
called that) that we want leading our country. We elect john howard,
turn our backs for a moment, and look what he does to us? Yet, whats
worse, is his re-election. Ill bet any amount of money that by the
next election, he will have screwed us over so badly, that should the
labour party put up a stray dog, he would beat him to the prime
ministers mantle. At least he would keep them honest, and bite them
until they do whats best for the country, not the individual, not the
party, nor the upper class, or just the proletariats, or the
impoverished, but for the people.
People wonder why there is so much youth crime and violence. Did
anyone stop and think that maybe some of the depression of teenagers
might stem from…god forbid….a feeling of HELPLESSNESS????? Give them
something to do, something to believe in. and im not talking about a
new community basketball centre, mr howard. Taxpayers dollars, though
better spent on that than welcome baskets for our American
counterparts, who WE didn't elect, yet have more influence and
decision making power than we do? An alliance with the states doesn't
mean we've become the new summer residence for the white house crew!
Benjamin franklin believed, as I do, that another country having too
much power over another is not the way to go, for the people.
Do Australians believe the war in iraq was just?? Was Australia
needed? Are we now seen as anything more than america's lapdog? We all
know the answers to these questions, so why doesn't the
administration? But with the aid of the media, the Australian people
were placated, fed biased information, as has been going on for
centuries. Since the first world war, misrepresentation in the media
has run rampagnt, with propaganda spoon-fed to us with our morning
weet-bix. And other uprisings in the Islamic world have been
practically undocumented here. The shah of iran was portrayed as a
dictator in the same league as saddam houssein, but under his rule,
women were educated, and the lands were claimed back from the temple
priests and given to the people who had cultivated them for so long
without due reward. If such a man could be seen in Australia as a
dictator, then what else dont we know about the world around us. Open
your eyes Australia, get you head out of the sand, and your ass off
your couch. Your future is being written without your input, so will
you stand there and follow the nicely paved path?
we can respect those who understand a concept then choose to reject it
on whatever basis, but ignorance???? thats a crime. to have the
information out there and to ignore the fact that its there? so if u
dont like what im saying, then thats fine, by all means, im overjoyed
you're thinking for yourself enough to make up your own mind, but even
if you hate it, please send it on. awareness is one step towards
change. one GIANT step.
IGNORANCE MUST DIE!!!!!! this will soon be our problem...isnt it time
we grew up enough to address is??????
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
...Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
"all of the other reindeer, used to laugh and call >>>>HIM<<<< names"...
how politically incorrect of them.
We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.
btw, i like possums. they're very friendly creatures...and apparently three have adopted me...they keep eavesdropping on my phone conversations and trying to climb up the inside of my jacket...naughty possums...we dont even know each other very well yet!
went to my old singing teachers house on a social call, only to find out that ive apparently forgotten any technique i once used to posess. shit. and it didnt help that bc i was...rolling out the red carpet...i started crying for some reason and couldnt stop. well, she made me cry. and then it wouldnt stop. i didnt even know WHY i was continually crying, only that i felt incredibly stupid and i wanted it to stop so i could go home and hide in my bed. hmmph. nice weather this afternoon tho. perfect. sat by the pool with my guitar on the phone. balmiest, nicest finish to a fucked up day.
(daily rant - don't worry, it wont go for very long)
im home alone and bored, tho that is better than the alternative - spend the day "shopping" with my dad and his mother, the aged blonde american bimbo, imported specially from the land of the free so dad can have his mummy nearby. ugh. she can't hear properly which rather defeats the purpose of talking. and she has a doctor hibert-like inane chuckle. heh heh heh. mmmmmmmm....
(ok. rant over now)
anyways, back to the fact im home alone and bored. nothing to do until tomorrow. ive done the washing, taken the dog for a walk (at least until it started raining), tried calling a few ppl who apparently have better things to do than answer their phones;), and read AP cover to cover. im in a political mood now. i hate feeling political when i can't go out and change something, as my father took the car, and i can't even drive. dammit.
plus we missed my chemical romance. damn danm double damn.
on a lighter note, IM GOING CAMPING!!!! yay!!! and not the silly kind of camping with your parents for a week. nope, im going with heidi, spinks, some ppl from rep and some ppl from hockey!!!! yay!!! for three days!!! and whats more, we're going to lemon tree passage - my former haunt for the dominant part of my childhood, and tweens. havent been back in ages, but i can still picture everything. who knows? maybe ellie might even be down. that'd be fun.
speaking of politics, i REALLY wanted to go to this human rights and international justice course with rob at the uni of new south wales. nice, hot guy + international justice and human rights = HOW COULD I NOT WANNA GO!!!! it would be the last time i could go anyway, and i havent seen him since june, at the songwriting and music tech. workshop. hmmm... damn, but i missed the entry date, so they wont accept me now. maybe i should just go to a rally or something to alleviate this persistent political restlessness. i wanna change something, but i dont know what or how to go about doing it.
i hate ignorance. *pouts*
